To keep our fellow bodypainters’ creative juices flowing during the pandemic, Skin City hosted our first ever online contest! In March of 2020, we announced our mash-up: Springtime florals and Star Wars come together for our #MayThe4thBeFloral theme. The contest winners were announced on May the Fourth – the unofficial Star Wars holiday, due to its similarity to “May the Force (Be With You)”.
The whole Skin City team was blown away by the inspired creations we received! Many came from experienced experts and a few from first-time painters. Everyone painted themselves or someone they were quarantined with, using skin-safe makeup and their vivid imaginations. We had entries from almost 100 artists from all over the USA and as far away as Australia, England, Italy, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Mexico, Argentina and Uruguay!
The contest was featured across the world in social media, on local news on the Fox5 “MORE” morning show and the national television show “Vegas Unveiled”.
We gave away $1000 in prizes, sponsored by Cameleon USA, Pastease and Skin City. Our distinguished judges were 5-time World Champions: Scott Fray and Madelyn Greco of Living Brush Bodypainting in North Carolina.
